A Guide to Plotting Many Locations on Google Maps
Plotting multiple locations on Google Maps can be a quick way to see where all of your customers or employees are. It’s also a great way to get started with geocoding, which is the process of converting longitude and latitude into addresses (think: “Where is this restaurant located?”). In this guide, we’ll show you how to create maps for multiple locations in minutes!
Create a Google Map
To create a Google Map, click on the Google Maps icon in your browser and then click on the Create a new map button.
Type in your location and click on Save.
Once you have created a map, click on the three dots located at the top right of your screen and select “Share or Embed.” Then, choose Embed.
Select the location you want to plot on the map.
Select “Locate me” and click on a point on the map.
The map will then display your approximate location. Click on “Set as Home” to set this as your home base.
If you’re using a desktop computer, click on the “Locate me” button in the lower right-hand corner of your screen. You can also use this option if you’re using a mobile device. Select your location and click on it to set it as your home base.
Add a marker to your location.
To add a marker to your location, select the location you want to plot on the map. Then click the marker icon (a blue circle with an arrow).
Type in the name of your location, such as “Central Park” or “Battery Park.” You can also adjust its size and color by clicking on these options from the dropdown menu at the bottom right corner of your screen.
Name your marker, and then click.
When you’re ready to add a marker, click. The new marker will be added and placed on the map in its location. You can also name your markers by clicking.
To remove an existing marker from your Google Maps, click on it and select Remove from My Places.
This will remove the marker from your Google Maps, but it won’t delete it entirely. If you want to delete the marker for good, click on it and select Delete from My Places.
Type in the name of your location, and then click.
You’ll see a map that shows all the places you’ve added to Google Maps. Click on any location to see more information about it.
On your computer, open Google Maps. In the top left corner, click Menu Your places. Click My Maps. You’ll see a list of all the places you’ve added to Google Maps. Click on any location to see more information about it.
Add more locations to your map.
To add a new location to your map, click the + icon. This will open a pop-up with all the different options for adding locations on Google Maps:

- Add a name and address
- Remove existing markers
There are two ways to add a new location on Google Maps. Either use the search bar at the top of your screen or click on the map itself and then click on “Add a new place”.

Then, select “Add Latitude/Longitude” from the drop-down menu at the top right corner of your screen. You will see multiple options when adding this field: “Latitude” and “Longitude.” Select whichever one is closest to where you want it plotted on Google Maps (e.g., if I wanted my location plotted near 120th Street in New York City, then I would choose 120th Street). The other option is labeled “Universal,” which allows for any coordinate system this means that if someone enters their address as 123 Main Street instead of 100 Main Street (which happens all too often), they’ll still be able to see where exactly they’re located within their own city/town/village etcetera!
