No underdogs here: Burbank High students show swine at the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo

San Antonio Stock Show

Rodeo

The most common rodeo events include bull riding, bareback bronc riding, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, team roping, tie-down roping, and barrel racing. In bull riding, the rider attempts to stay on a bucking bull for eight seconds, while in bronc riding, the rider tries to stay on a bucking horse for the same amount of time.
Steer wrestling involves a rider on horseback chasing a steer, then jumping off the horse and wrestling the steer to the ground. In team roping, two riders work together to rope a steer as quickly and efficiently as possible. Tie-down roping is similar, but involves a single rider roping and tying a calf as quickly as possible.
Barrel racing is a timed event where the rider must navigate a cloverleaf pattern around three barrels as quickly as possible in San Antonio Stock.
Rodeo has become a popular sport and entertainment event, with professional and amateur competitions held throughout the United States and around the world.
