How to get the most out of your iPhone by customizing your app icons

If you’re like me, you prefer to keep your iPhone app icons home screen as clean and clutter-free as possible. This allows you to easily find the apps you need, which makes using your phone that much more enjoyable. But, if you go too far with deleting apps from your home screen, soon you’ll find yourself with just one or two apps showing on the screen at any given time. While this does keep things looking nice and tidy, it can also make finding an app take longer than it should. The solution?

App Shortcuts in iOS 11

iPhones these days come with the majority of apps that many people would need or want for everyday life. But for some, this selection may not meet all their needs and have space on their screen where they wish there was a shortcut to an app they use often. The good news is that there are shortcuts you can place on your home screen if you’re running iOS 11 (learn more here).

The only downside of customizing your iPhone app icons is that the more times you change them, the higher the chances of glitches happening. Make sure to avoid tampering with too many parts of your phone because it could result in longer than necessary wait time between reboot periods and less stability overall. Regardless, customizing your icons can be fun!

Things you can do with app shortcuts

* Check out the app Icons HQ to see your favorite apps as they’ll appear on your phone. You can click through different styles and preview the icons before downloading them.

* Download a free app called Springtomize which is great for customizing the look of icons.

* Be careful when downloading any apps that claim they will customize app icons your icons—some of these are virus traps or even phony antivirus programs, so be wary if you come across one that asks for a lot of money upfront (such as $10) without explaining what it does first.

* Get an icon-editing app like Icons8 that includes app icons larger library and many more customization options. If you want all your apps to look cool, that’s where you’ll find it. Just remember: there are no hard rules for how iOS looks, so don’t expect every single one of these changes to look good together; sometimes you just have to play around with it yourself!

Changing Icons

A simple way of customizing your iPhone app icons is by changing the name of the app so it matches what you need. For example, if you are too impatient to wait for an Uber on your map, change the icon so that it reads Uber instead of Maps. You can do this by long-pressing on any given app and tapping the X icon, which will bring up a small pop-up with all your apps. Tap on any given app icon until you find one that fits.

If you want to go a little further with your customizations, you can change an icon into something completely different. First, long-press on any given app until it brings up a pop-up menu. From there, tap on get info and edit it as you see fit before pressing Done. Once done editing, press save for changes to take effect. If done correctly, your new icon will appear in place of the old one.

Removing default apps

I am the first to admit that I’m not a designer, but with a little creativity and willingness to play around with shapes and colors, you can make your app icons look unique.

I was able to convert mine into jellyfish, space shuttles, stars, or just whatever else popped into my head when I tried out different options. If you need some inspiration for creating your app icons make sure you explore the possibilities offered by the app below.

There are a few options that might help you on your way to creating an entirely new icon pack for your device. Although there are a lot of places you can download free icons from, I chose Dribbble as it was one of the more unique sites I came across with some more interesting choices. If you already have a favorite site,

feel free to search around there instead and see whahttps://forbesor.com/wp-admin/post-new.phpt you come up with. Once you’ve found some images you like make sure they’re fully licensed so that it won’t be an issue if Apple rejects them from their App Store. Try checking their license conditions or in some cases simply ask for permission before using them yourself.
