How Do I Close My Account?
To delete your Instagram account, you need to first log in and click the gear icon on the top right-hand side of the screen. In this new menu, find Close Account and then select Permanently Delete. Once you click this button, there will be a small pop-up window asking if you are sure that you want to remove your account.
Clicking yes will permanently close your account and make it inaccessible by other users. Your Instagram profile will also be deleted from any other device where it is logged in using your username and password
Now What?
To delete your Instagram account for good, head over to your profile. You’ll see a gear icon next to the Settings and Account tabs on the upper right hand side of the screen. If you want to just make your account private, tap on Settings and go from there.
However, if you want a little more permanent solution, click the gear icon. This will bring up options for Account Management and Data Transfer Tools in addition to Delete Your Account. Select Delete Your Account > I want to delete my account > type DELETE in all caps > click Next.
I Deleted My Account. Will Everything Be OK?
