Overwatch 2: How to Merge Accounts and Get Old Gear
Overwatch 2 has received an update that allows players to merge multiple accounts into one, as well as recover all of their old weapons and equipment from their old accounts. This has been an option that fans have been asking about since the game was released, so it’s great to see that Blizzard has finally delivered this feature to Overwatch 2 players worldwide. Read on to find out how you can combine your account and get your old stuff back.
What Is The Account Merge Feature?
Account merging is the process of combining two or more accounts into one. The best way to merge accounts is by creating a new game. In doing so, players are given the option of selecting a random and free-to-play hero for their character. They also get all previous loot boxes and in-game content on the newly combined account.
Selecting this option will combine both levels and the inventory of players who had different games for them to share things like Overwatch 2 glory, loot box rewards, and skins when they play together.
Before this update, it was nearly impossible for people with multiple accounts at higher levels but lower levels couldn’t enjoy any benefits from playing together.
Getting Started
Merging Accounts and Getting Old Gear
1) Choose the option to merge your accounts by logging in with an account on the old console.
2) From there, you’ll be asked if you want to keep that account as-is or add it to your current one.
3) Next, select which account you’d like to keep and hit Continue.
4) You will then have a chance to move your character’s levels and items from one account into another.
5) Once done, both characters will be merged into a single level on the same account.
Choosing A Character For The Merge
Merge Accounts and Get Old Gear! Okay, so you just bought Overwatch for PC and Console and can’t get enough of its awesome gameplay. You’ve invested hours into it, but then the unthinkable happens; your account is banned from competitive play. It’s a dirty feeling, to have hours of playing time lost with no recourse.
Fortunately for you, you now have the option to merge accounts with others in the same family thanks to the new parental controls that Blizzard implemented in Patch 1.20.
The change means that up until Patch 1.24 on January 24th, 2019, players who merged their accounts after May 18th, 2018 will be able to give themselves – literally – their old gear back by merging it again before the patch hits their platform next year.

Merging And Deleting Characters
Merge Accounts and Get Old Gear
If you’ve been playing Overwatch 2 since its release, then you might have some older characters that are no longer played or some duplicate character pieces. For those who would like to merge accounts with their old gear from the previous game, there’s an easy way for them to do so by following the steps below. To start, make sure your profile is updated with a Game Overwatch 2 Title of Merged Account and the last name of your choice followed by (Merged) in parentheses.
Fixing Things After The Merge
If you plan on merging your accounts, we recommend doing it as soon as possible. Once it is complete, we highly advise changing your account’s email address and password to make sure everything remains secure and the account doesn’t get hacked.
If you happen to log in before the merge goes through, some Overwatch 2 of the gear or cosmetics that you had before the merge may not carry over with you when you do log in. There are a few ways around this issue but it can be tricky if you don’t know what specifically changed between your old account and your new one. We recommend using either Blizzard Gear Manager or Save My Style
Create an Account Merged Profile
As someone who used to play Overwatch 2 religiously, merging your account and playing on the old servers is like going back in time and reuniting with some old friends. I’ve been watching the progress over the past few weeks of players like Reckful who moved their accounts and started streaming with legacy gear or folks who never quit playing altogether.
This is a great opportunity for people who have stopped playing since launch or lost their old gear as they merge over. It might be a bit before things are all sorted out, but this is an exciting update for longtime Overwatch 2 players!
