TikTok: How to change your name

We’ve all had those moments when we realize that our name on TikTok no longer matches our brand, either because we changed it or because it was misspelled. If you’re looking to change your name on the platform, follow this step-by-step guide to update your information and get back to posting great content. Note: You’ll need to be at least 13 years old and have access to a desktop computer or laptop to make these changes, but don’t worry—we’ll still be here if you need us!

Hi there! Welcome to TikTok. Now that you’re here, we hope you enjoy the new features and platform! If your name is Dan and wants it changed to Danny on TikTok, follow these steps. #MakeItDareToBeDifferent.

1) Open your profile screen by clicking on your icon in the upper right-hand corner of the app or swiping down from the top of any other screen on your phone. 2) Click ‘Edit Your Name’ (above where it says ‘Name’). 3) Type your desired name in the text box and click ‘Update’. Done!

Tap Sign In

Since you created your TikTok account on the app, all your friends will see your profile page with the name you initially chose when logging in. To change your account name, simply go to Settings and then tap on the bottom of Name.

Tap on Change Name and input your new username. Remember that this does not change your username within the app – it only updates your username on TikTok’s end.

Once you’ve updated your username, you will see a confirmation message that says, Name changed successfully. Once again, do not worry if your friends do not see your new profile page immediately – their app may be in offline mode.

The changes should update within a day. To make sure they have updated, simply follow each of them individually and check if they now see your new username (if they don’t follow them first). If you’re still having trouble finding yourself on TikTok, try reinstalling it. You can download TikTok here.

When you’re ready to make the big switch, there are a few steps you’ll need to take first. Luckily, changing your name on TikTok is easier than it may seem. The first thing you’ll need to do is delete the app from your device and then deactivate your account through TikTok’s website. There’s no way of actually deleting your account without going through their official site, so if you just want a new username, that’s an option for you!

Enter all required details

Open up your app and go to settings in the bottom left corner. Tap on your profile picture and then on your name, where you will be able to edit your name, username, and bio. Tap ‘OK’ in the box that says Changing User Name when you are done. You can also hide or delete yourself from a user’s feed or page by clicking on the Options icon next to the edit button.
