What Is Two-Factor Authentication?

Two-factor authentication works by sending a second password (or code) in addition to your regular password when you log into your account from a new device or browser.
This helps make sure that anyone who gets access to your password can’t get into your account without also having access to the second code, which you generate with an app on your phone or another trusted device.

Setting Up Two-Factor Authentication On your Walmart One Account
Setting up two-factor authentication on your Walmartone account is a simple process that will provide protection for your account. You’ll need a phone with the latest version of the app, plus be enrolled in SMS text alerts. Once you’ve done this, enable two-factor authentication. The next step is to log into your account and visit Settings > Security > Secure Account with Two-Factor Authentication and toggle the button to On.
We recommend choosing the Authenticator App option since it’s more secure than SMS text alerts. The application generates six-digit codes on your phone so you can securely sign in without having to enter anything on the website or app.
What Happens If I Lose My Phone?
If you lose your phone, the text message with a code will no longer be delivered to your phone. To stay secure, we recommend you set up an account on a trusted device.
If you have an account on more than one device and they’re both lost or stolen, the safest option is to disable two-step verification for that account. You can do this by going into Account Settings and disabling Two-Factor Authentication.
Once enabled again, you’ll need to verify it with a two-step method of your choice—text message, call or Google Authenticator app (which syncs across all devices).
Can I Use an App Instead of Text Messaging?
Walmartone has a new security feature to help make your account even more secure. This extra layer of protection is called Two-Factor Authentication,
and it requires you to use both your password and an additional piece of information in order to log in. That means if someone gets your password, they still won’t be able to log into your account without the additional information.
To enable two-factor authentication, go into My Account on a computer or the Walmart app on a mobile device and find the Two-Factor Authentication option under Personal Information. After enabling Two-Factor Authentication, you’ll be asked for a phone number that can receive text messages.
